Book Recommendation: ‘Black and British: A Forgotten History' by David Olusoga.

Olusoga explores the long history of Blacks in both Britain and Europe, pre-dating slavery with powerful revelations. It is often forgotten that the Roman Empire expanded well into Africa, and as Roman Citizens - Black people were not only equal but faced no discrimination on the basis of their skin. Olusoga shows us another world, in which racism arose from opportunism in the age of slavery rather than from the beginning of time. His book can be an empowering read to imagine and understand life before slavery, and its true effect which is still felt en-mass in the 21st century.
